day - 9 - WOW

What a difference a few days make, I don't know what to say, but God is Good all the time. I cannot say I am eating great, but the great thing is I'm eating. I feel good no stomach problems at all this time. I am just glad to be alive and enjoying this time at home and the nice weather we've been having. I am so proud of Lyn and happy that she did go after what she knew she could achieve. We have some good news here too, Carlos was waiting for Molson Coors to call him for a new job and he went for the interview last week and got the job and starts on Monday.

So for now folks, I am content to rest, relax, crochet, tweet and blog.

xoxo Lady D

Back in action!

I've been missing for about 2 weeks or more, so yea you know summer school has started. School is keeping me busy...hey thats what its suppose to do. Im happy to hear everyone is doing well, and Aunt D out of surgery and recovering "God Bless". Lyn starts her new job, today Monday May 23rd, 2010...definitely a memorable day for her.

Lyn and I ran the "Somer Run" on Saturday morning and it was very nice, we did it in 28mins and some seconds, we are definitely stepping it up with our races. We run a race every month and all for a good cause.

In terms of my personal weight loss/ exercise regimen, I've been working really hard and eating well. I haven't stepped on the scale yet...Eeeekkkk!!! I do not like the scale, right now Im just going by the way my clothes are fitting me and how my body feels. Everything happens with time. Im happy and wont stress off the weight, but rather I will be patient and do it right. I refuse to go on any diet or any craziness like that. I run 3-4 times out the week between 4-6 miles , I start with 4 miles and increase as the days go by. I also switch up my routine and do the elliptical for 45minutes, a step routine to get my heart rate up and then pump some weights and do abdominals. I also do 60 mins of aerobics in my apartment on Wednesday with my room mate because the running gets boring after a while so I have to add variety. I'll just keep doing what Im doing and I should be expecting to see results soon. Well ladies, have a wonderful week. Love you all!!!

Love Paola

Day 4...

its day 4 and i'm feeling good. Glad to say I have not taken any pain-killers and although Wednesday night was a sleepless night and I got up with a crushing headache, I soldiered it out and was okay by mid-afternoon. Gill took me for a short walk and I got to sit in the sun for about 20 minutes too. Today, I got up feeling good and drank my brook bond tea, had my oats and did my morning crossword puzzle. I then attempted to do my first pooh and boy, oh, boy that was tough. I even took the newspaper to the washroom (something I think is utterly disgusting, lol). When you are desperate you do desperate things. I was glad that it all went well, my first pooh after surgery, I was just afraid to strain and if I didn't go that is a whole other problem. After all that I took a nice warm shower and put on regular clothes, loose but regular and not pj or nighty. So not I am ready to face the world. I am working on a new crochet bag, its made in country green in 100% cotton and it's called a market bag (i will attach a pic). So between my crossword, crocheting, tweeting, facebooking, emailing and blogging I should have enough on my plate to keep me sane.

Glad to just be alive...

...I posted on my bbm and facebook this verse from the bible... "count your many blessings and name them one by one" When I think about my many blessings they are too much to even count and much less name. I thank God each and everyday for the family I have and I thank him for my friends. Once again my surgery was a success and this time honestly I went in thinking that I just want to get this all over with and get on with my life and plans. I keep telling myself that God's plans are not my plans so I need to keep listening to him and not to myself. So with my family and numerous friends praying for me I went into the hospital two hours before my surgery time of May 17 at 12:30pm. The nurse that came to take me to the operating theatre name was Paul and he told Gill and Cal to hang around cause this will not take long. He was teasing Gill so much about her crying and making fun of her, he took me in the room still chuckling. The anesthesiologist was a young girl and when I went into the operating room with Paul she was there to set up and prep my anesthesia. He was asking why I was so tanned and I said I was just back from Belize and when I said that the young anesthesioglogist doctor said that she had always wanted to go there and that's where she is going on her next vacation, when I started talking about Belize I tell you everyone in the the operating theatre perked up and started asking so much questions about Belize and how they always see it on House Hunters International and want to go and visit. There was Paul the nurse, the young anestegiologis doctor and two other nurses. Paul was asking if I think he could find a nice girl in Belize because he said he had a hard time getting dates in Toronto and we were are making fun of him. He said he was not good looking for dates as he was too shy. Dr. Swallow came into the operating theatre to tell me that she thought about how she would handle this surgery and will go in and do a simple procedure. She asked one of her helpers for a marker and marked an x at the spot and told me she would go in right there and cut around the mesh and take off all the excess mesh and stitching that did not adhere to my stomach. I got the anesthesia that was just the face mask and no epidural or nothing. When I woke up in the day surgery area the nurses that were monitoring me said it was okay for me to go home and they wanted me to go to my room 1427 to pick up my bags and then check out. Well when I got there my nurse his name was Elmer said that no such thing was going to happen, that he wanted me to get a good night sleep and eat a meal and he would be there to make sure i did not throw up and was okay, he took such good care of me. His shift ended at 7:30pm so I had another nurse overnight that had looked after me before. Apart from that I had four other nurses that came in to see me because they remembered me from the last time and came to say hi. I was well cared for and on Tuesday I was ready to go home and my nurse said that I could stay in the room for as long as i needed to or until they needed it for another patient, well they never had anyone so i got breakfast and lunch and at about 3:30pm Cal and Gill came and got me. I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers and I am not on any special diet and can eat anything at this time. I am taking it really easy for the next few weeks and I will be re-evaluated on June 30 to see if I am ready to return to the workforce.

xoxo,

bad day at black rock

Or rather should I say bad rainy day,

Hello Ladies, Yes! It has been a really rainy night and today too, the heaven open and the rains just came down, Oh! That's what happens right? Rain does fall from the Heavens. Will get to Lady d later, but I am so glad she's at home and resting...

I have been good with my eating, the day of Dylana's surgery I made pancakes, not with wheat flower, just delicious one with butter, I needed comfort food, so I ate some monday evening, tuesday morning and tuesday evening, and hear this with butter and syrup and cheese, it really pepped me up, imagine if I had fancied chinese food or chocolates... Today I ate a Salad, with chicken, and celery, cucumbers, tomatoes, shreadded carrots, and a dressing made with olive oil and vinegar w/blk pepper for taste. Later I'll just have some garanaches, with my own homemade beans. Well, it's 3 pm and it's raining, hopefully it'll let up by the wekend and i'll be able to go walking and galavanting. I hate just being in the house, not much cooking, just a lot of reqadeing and TV watching. Heh Heh. I have a large screen TV now, but as for the DVD (lady D, treated me to) haven't any DVD's yet, still soon... Love to you all elva marinabad day at Blk Rock is an old western movie....

dylana came out successfully!!!

Hi Beautiful women,

I guess you all heard Lady"s surgery went well, and you know I hope and pray she won't be neding another one, Cal called me yesterday and said it went well.

I am still on the challenge , are you all? but the rains are hampering me from doing my walking, and I am not much for house walking (Imani does it) it would make me climb the walls, so to speak, imagine , me doing aerobics with my head down off the ceiling... but I am still in the game. Haven't heard from P at all. And Lyn must be all tizzy preparing for the big day on Monday.

K was here earlier for coffee, she had a 5:30 class, hopes she gets things soon, she's a good person. So folks au revoir... have a good evening elva marina.

I was M.I.A. but I'm back!

Hello Morrison Women, so I've been really missing in action, but I'm back. Work has been crazy. Three days to go and of course they are working me to the bone, but who cares, they'll never find anyone as good as me...not that they'll back-fill anyway. Now let's just hope I can bring this confidence to my new job.

So, I have to say, I've been doing really great with my challenge, except this past Friday. We had a potluck at work, and this lady that always brings Philipino food brought pancit and lumpia, and well needless to say, I overdosed. But, since Friday, I've worked in the yard two hours, walked 3 miles, ran 4 miles, and biked 7 miles. I've also kept my eating and carbs way down. P and I have another race on Saturday...trying to lose more, or at least maintain my running weight from the last race. Haven't weighed recently, but plan to do so on Friday. I don't want to make Karen jealous with 125 lbs. He he he. But I don't know yet. I do know that ALL, and I repeat ALL my clothes has all kinds of extra space in them. It's a nice feeling.

I exercise literally every day, which includes weights three times per week. And although I call Friday my rest day, I still work in the yard or wash my car, or do something else where I'm at least active for an hour, even if that means running around the yard with Chloe and Ansen. My exercises include walking, running, biking, and the weights, but I'm getting a little bored with it. P had given me a P90X DVD and I think I'll try that. I think she said it has yoga. I might even find a pilates DVD just to change things up a little. Bottom line is, I feel really good, and haven't felt this way in a while.

I probably weigh about 10 lbs less now than even before I got pregnant with Chloe. My goal weight is no less than 120, and would like to ultimately maintain between 120 and 125. We'll see how that goes.

The way I eat now, you guys would be so proud. Even on the foods I like, I cut down the portion size big time. I even scare myself sometimes by ordering a salad vs. fries, etc...but it's become easier now, so I'm glad about that. I just have to make it a permanent change. One thing I do not do is block myself from the foods that I like. If I do choose to eat something that's a little more fattening than I would care, I just do extra exercise, or cut down my other portions for the rest of the day, or over the next couple days.

We'll see how this all goes. Hopefully you guys are doing well too. It's nice to wear my close-fitting dry fit tops and have no bulges on my back, around that exercise bra area with extra fat pushing out. :-( For me, that's gone, and I think it's the extra exercises I do (Karen, the exercises from Glamour that I showed you and P).

Anyway women-folk, I love you all, and hope everyone is doing well. We have to all pray for D too. Please remember.

Signing off for now. Love Lyn.

Dear Love ones, Loyalty is more valuable than diamonds, filipino proverb

So how is the challenge, haven't heard from you all much, but i am home today, was over at I and I for the past 3 days, my friend ms. williams, former co-worker from'nutrition' so i went over there, of of course cooked up. bbq chicken wings, r and b with turkey neck and chicken legs, and gacho, which is flour tortillas with beans and cheese, rolled up, you can also add chicken. But today the housekeeper started back on her job. Any way I am doing my laundry, and trying to keep up with the challenge, still watching what I am eating, I did do fish for myself this week, curry /coconut milk, but i try not to over indulge. Are you all doing the same. And I am still waiting for the others to climb on board, okay, so I am like ms Muffett, eating her curds and whey, but the big spider is going get murdered before she even comes down. but girls just keep on trucking, Love to all , Elve Marina.

Mother's Day....come and gone...

Yes Ladies, on Friday I did the same breakfast and lunch as the day before, except we celebrated one of my work mates birthday with a nice chocolate mousse chocolate. I had one slice. I left work early at about 2:30pm and Cal and I went to Starbucks where I had my usual vanilla soy latte. On our way home we stopped and got ourselves a large pizza with chicken and hotpeppers for dinner.

Satuday was a really lazy day for me, I got up and sat in my solarium in the sun. Outside was to be desired I tell you. It was so, so cold on Saturday and looking outside you would think it was like 90 degrees. So needless to say I stayed inside and about 5pm went to my old neighbour's condo to hang out with her and some friends. We had so much fun and I did not get home until 1:30am, ooohhh really late night for me. Food wise on Saturday I did the usual oats in the am and a slice of leftover pizza for lunch with 2 kiwi fruits, and at Nicole's I had a little corn chips with guacamole and she had done some jerk chicken wings with and had fresh baby carrots and celery on the side. I had water to drink as I am already getting my body ready for surgery so no alcohol.

So now it's Sunday (Mother's Day) and Amir and Gillian had decided earlier that they would accompany me to church. When I texted him early he said he was suffering as he did not get in until 5am, I said like that's my problem and that we were all going to church. So off we all went. Everyone was so happy to see Amir and Gill all grown up. Of course, Amir got nuff hugs and kisses from all the ladies, some of them even claiming him as their son. Pastor Colin said Gillian was PPC's first supermodel, he thought Gill was so beautiful and grown up and wanted to know when all this happen. They had not been there in a long time. I had not been there for awhile as well, I guess I put the rumours to rest that I had divorced Cal so that was that. After church at about 1:30pm we decided we would go and eat roti, so off we went to Rotilicious but was disappointed as there was not service by the wait staff. There was one girl there that seems to be doing everything but helping the customers. We had starters of pholouri and doubles with ginger beer. Well the pholouri was reheated and not freshley fried so we thought we will not get the roti and go out for a nice dinner instead. We went home and got all relaxed and comfy to watch the Boston Cleveland bball game, I made coffee for Cal, Gill and I. At about 5pm we ventured back out to dinner, this time to Boston Pizza. I had the Boston Cheesesteak with sweet potato fries (they call it yam fries). I had half and saved the next half for lunch today. After dinner we retired back home to watch the San Antonio Phoenix game and everyone took a nap while watching except for me I stayed up and finished up some crochet. At 10pm Cal took off to work and we called it a night.

Thanks for tuning in my ladies....Lady D

good morning ladies

Hello the morrison womem,

Thanks for the blod Lady D, things seems to happen everywhere even in the up to date countries (TORONTO) papers get lost etc. But good to hear you did all your prelimenary things, it must have been a harrowing day, and on top of all that, you can't eat until all that is done, but what you ate sounds good, not too fatty. I know you'll be glad when it's all over.

Today is hot hot already it's like 7:45am, I did not do my walk this morning but 5 out of 7 days.. my week actually went quickly, no hassles, I read abook, did minor housecleaning and did some gardening, early, and also read my scriptures, I find that peaceful. Today I'll probably go down to the grocery store, and give Ms P, a visit. Oh! I also cut my hair yesterday. Special K took me. Guess what I got into someelse's blog with tons of photos, they were from england, I like the pictures bit, but I haven't logged on to no other blog. Where are the Morrison woman, still asleep.-burmese proverb- in time of test, family is best. Elva marina

Pre-op day...

...today was the day for my pre-op and I had to get up and out the house much earlier than I am accustom to as my appointment was at 9am and the bus and subway got me there in about 1 hour 15 minutes. So I got to my appointment and the pre-op department could not find my paperwork, so they send me to Dr. Swallows office to get a new one filled out by her assistant, she said that they lost it as it was sent to them, Dr. Swallow was in surgery so she could not sign and will do so later. I remember filling out all the forms back in March when I was last there. Needless to say that all took about an hour or more and I did not get to start until about 10:30. The first person I saw was the nurse, who interviewed me and filled out so much forms and took so much blood I thought I was going to pass out, then the ecg lady came in and did an ecg test, after that there was a doctor (apparently something new) that reviewed and went over all the forms from the nurse, he was very nice and we talked about our kids and everything else. I then went for an x-ray and the wait for that was almost another hour or so, to make a long story shorter I was out of there about 12:30pm which is early as now the anaesteglogist does not see me until the day of the surgery.

Started my day off with my regular breakfast:
Bowl of oats
Glass of orange juice

I was starving as I missed my mid-morning snack:
at about 1pm I had Tim Hortons Chili with a whole wheat bun
10oz (284ml)300 calories, 19g fat, 1320mg sodium, 4g sugar, 26g protein

I got home so tired and burnt out and took an hour nap then went out for Starbucks, lol

Mid-afternoon:
Starbucks Grande Soy Latte (210 calories,45g fat, 150mg sodium, 26g sugar, 10g protein, 6% iron)
Starbucks chocolate chunk cookie (360 calories, 17g fat, 170mg sodium, 31g sugar, 4g protein, 2g fibre, 15% iron)

Dinner:
A bowl of fruit
1 glass brandy and milk

So I am not sure if this is good or bad, but I balanced it off I think, I was not hungry for any dinner, I felt really full after the chilli and starbucks latte.

That's it for now folks,
much love, Lady D

hey, nobody answer me yet,

Today was a great day...

I am actually have only 3 more working days before I go off on medical leave. I am not planning on going back to Minto when I am ready to return to work. I will look for a new job with much better pay. Lyn is inspiring me to be all that I can be and to not be afraid of the unknown. So the plan is really to get better and come to Belize for a part of my recovery then return to work in September/

My day started off with my normal breakfast:
Bowl of oatmeal
Glass of orange juice

Mid-morning:
1 cup of Coffee
1 Slice of whole wheat with 1 teasp. peanut butter
Glass of water

Lunch: (same as yesterday)
1/2 plate Broccoli, cauliflour, carrots w/ 2 tbsp. cottage cheese
4 Paris Toasts with a spread of liver pate on each
1 slice light provolone cheese
1 cup chair tea w/skim milk
Glass of water

Mid-afternoon:
Green Tea
Glass of water

Late afternoon:
Bosc pear

Dinner:
I had a date with my one and only son, he bbm me to set up the date last night and told me not to forget. So after work about 4:45pm I hopped on the train and went to meet him downtown at his work, it took me like 10 minutes to get there. We went to St. Louis Bar and Grill which is located in his building. I had a nine piece chicken wings, of which I ate 8 pieces and taters, I ended up eating about 5 pieces, I don't too much like potatoes, so that was okay with me and you betcha they were fried. I had only a glass of water to drink. I don't feel too bad cause tomorrow is my pre-op day and I will be starving for most of the day as they will have me running from department to department so everyone can get a piece of me. My day will start at 9am and I will probably be there at least 4 - 5 hours and then I am coming home, I took the day off from work.

Well my ladies, goodnight and sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite.

Love you all,
Lady D

The Angiogeneis Foundation's list of the top 33 antiangiogenic foods:

Although I am not a big Oprah fan. This list came from the May 2010 issue of O, The Oprah Magazine

The Best Way to Prevent Cancer: A Good Diet

Did you know that up to 40 percent of women ages 40 to 50 may have tiny cancers in their breasts—no larger than the tip of a ballpoint pen? Microscopic tumors are forming all the time, but our body's natural cancer-fighting system usually prevents them from growing large enough to cause harm. A key component of this system is angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels.

"Angiogenesis is what makes the difference between a small, innocuous cancer and a runaway, dangerous disease," says William Li, MD, president and medical director of the Angiogenesis Foundation. Already about a dozen drugs battle cancer by keeping blood vessel growth in check, but Li is even more excited by research that shows that adding certain foods to our diet can have a similar effect.

Many of the foods that contain angiogenesis-inhibiting compounds are also rich in antioxidants, which may contribute to their anticancer benefits. But as Li explains, "The jury is still out on whether antioxidants are truly effective at preventing cancer, yet controlling blood vessel growth has been proven to make a profound difference." Initial study results are startling: Asian-American women who ate soy at least once a week throughout their lives reduced their risk of breast cancer by 60 percent; Chinese women who drank a cup of green tea at least three times a week cut their colon cancer risk by 34 percent. Other natural antiangiogenic foods include red wine, cooked tomatoes, blueberries, garlic, and dark chocolate.

According to Li, future research will focus on which specific varieties of foods are most potent. "We may one day soon be able to pinpoint the exact species of tomato or type of red wine that offers the biggest bang for your buck when it comes to discouraging tumor growth," he says. "Doctors will truly be able to recommend foods to fight cancer and know they're having a meaningful effect."

Day 4 - It's Tuesday already

My day started as usual, with the same thing I have every morning.

Breakfast:
Bowl of oatmeal
Glass of orange juice

Mid-morning:
1 cup of Coffee
1 Slice of whole wheat with 1 teasp. peanut butter
Glass of water

Lunch:
1/2 plate Broccoli, cauliflour, carrots w/ 2 tbsp. cottage cheese
4 Paris Toasts with a spread of liver pate on each
1 slice light provolone cheese
1 cup chair tea w/skim milk

Mid-afternoon:
Bowl of fruit salad (strawberry, watermelon, canteloupe)
Glass of water

Dinner:
Cal made boneless/skinless chicken breast in spagetti sauce

Now this is way past my bedtime, but sleep has been hard to come by over the last week or so.

Love u all,
Lady D

Ladies night out...

So, today was our Moms night out with the church moms. We do it once a month, and we were meeting at La Napolera today (Mexican restaurant). Basically, I starved myself all day to be able to have some chips and salsa, and a chimichanga.

For breakfast, I had coffee and a banana. For lunch I had two enchilades from what I made Sunday. I hydrated well throughout the day, and suffered not eating my fruits throughout the day.

I walked a mile this morning and it was so warm, I came back in the building sweating. It's obvious that this is the last day I can do outside, until it's fall again. In the afternoon, I walked in the building. There are 5 sets of stairs between building 5 and 1, so I walked up, then down, then up, then down' and so on. In all, on a half mile walk in the building, I also walked up 240 stairs.

Church ladies are the best, it was great to spend time with them, but you also get the best juicy church happenings a.k.a gossip. LOL. :-)

Oh, how could I forget, I had one very tasty margarita...I don't even want to imagine how many calories was in that. But, I just look at it as lime and water. LOL.

Anyway ladies, hope everyone is doing well.

Love Lyn.

Hip Hip Hurray, it's under way...

So ladies, don't really want to talk about May 1 and May 2. He he he...P and I, with Mike and the kids' went to a fair at the church...and you guys know what's at the fair...funnel cake, hot dogs, cotton candy. Okay, I only had half a funnel cake, and a polish dog, and made sure I ran it off later in about 95 degree weather, I ran 4 miles, then later did some weights. It was all good. Sunday, May 2 was much better. That's usually my treat day, so I had a scoop of vanilla icecream with some chocolate fudge, and later, rode for about an hour while I chatted with mommy.

So today, was excellent, the way I should do it. Started the day an egg with tomatoes, onions, green onions, mushrooms, and a banana, with a bottle of water. For lunch I had an organic lunch mean, and my afternoon snack was a pear. For dinner, I had some scrumptous chicken soup that Mike made courtesy of my mother...or at least the recipe is from her. For exercise, I walked a total of about 1.5 miles while at work, in my morning and afternoon walk. This evening, I did my strength and toning exercises. I hydrated throughout the day, then got some really good news. Will share in a separate email.

Anyway, that was my day, I think this challenge will be easier than I thought. At my last weigh in, I weighed 132, which was about a week after Karen left. Each time I'm lighter too, I noticed my time in the 5K is way better. Anyway, I want to get to between 120 and 125. Not sure if I'll reach it by May 31, but definitely will by June 30. I try my best to make healthy choices. I try to reduce my card intake throughout the day, and eat my fruits and veggies as much as I can.

I hope you guys enjoyed my first official blog.
Love you all, Lyn.

Finally my challenge have started...

Everyday I take a multi-vitamin and a biotin tablet, on the recommendation of my doctor. The biotion is for strong nails and hair and the multi-vitamin is for everything else. It does work really well. My nails have never looked better and my hair grows so fast, it's like a chia pet, lol.

Morning Breakfast:
bowl of oats
glass of orange juice

Midmorning:
Coffee

Lunch:
omelet with tomatoes, green, red and yellow peppers
Side salad with lettuce, tomato, cucumber
Hash Brown (I passed on these and did not touch them)
decaf coffee
2 glasses water

Afternoon:
1 bosc pear
2 glasses water

Late Afternoon:
I met Cal for and had a defaf soy vanilla latte

Evening:
Turkey burger (without the bread)
w/lettuce and tomatoes
Sauteed broccoli and mushrooms
2 glasses water

Small glass of brandy with milk before going to bed.

I added the evening meal as I already know this is what Cal will be cooking.

I should be getting home pretty early today so I will lace up my runners and go for a short walk.

So all in all I am having a pretty healthy day.

Later my ladies, D

May already....

Ok, its time for me to get down and dirty with exercising and everything else. There is no excuses for me now. I have a free week to jump start any routine I want now. Yesterday was a sort-a-kind-a good eating day for me. I had a high protein breakfast, eggs, turkey sausage and cheese BUT did not eat all day (bad bad bad) and @ 8 I went to dinner at this really cool place "Clark's Fish Camp" in Old St Augustine. The food was good. I had Mahi Mahi with yellow rice and tossed salad. It was delish and they dont give a lot of yellow rice anyways....I sware it was like 1/2 cup...the bowl was soooo small. LOLOL....good fi me noh tru???? OH, and I also tried "python" yes the snake. No big deal actually, it had no taste and the meat was tough...go figure!!! I thought I was going to be hissing like a snake after...no luck...hehehehe!!! So this week, I will try a new routine. I will wake up early in the morning and run so I won't have to worry about it in the evening time or maybe do some light weight training in the evening also. Thats my challenge this week...and I must stick to it. It sure feels good blogging...I think its therapeutic. Have a great Monday....love u all!!!

This weekend was bad to start my good eating habits...

...so yesterday Paul and Mary Coleman had Cal and I over for their son Kieran's first communion. I started off May 1 really great. I had lowfat crossiant, plain with nothing and a cup of coffee. For lunch I had left-over Chinese/Guyanese fried rice and chicken that Carlos and I had for dinner the night before. We then took off for Paul and I was pretty good. He had potato salad, baked beans, bbq chicken, bbq lamb, bbq sausage, green salad with feta, tomatoes, cucumber, onions and green olives and flour tortilla. I had a little of everything, really small portions. Along with all this I had about two glasses of wine mixed with champagne. We came home around midnight and I slept in until about 10am. I have not been sleeping well, so for some reason when Cal gets up that's when I get my best sleep. So it's back to work tomorrow for me and I have two week left for work with a few days off in between. Good night my peeps. Love, D

Elva wants to blog too...

Starting the 1st May: read my bible scriptures, 6:30 am 1 cup Oatmeal with raisins and 1 tsp honey. Lunch 1 cup tea with 1 tsp Condensed milk.
1:15 6 oz sliced Barracuda fish, steamed. sweet potato, pumpkin, cho-cho, carrot, cabbage, boiled with onion and garlic seasoned with, thyme, blk pepper oregano, cilantro. 2 TBS salsa casera over the food.
iced tea, water melon, water.
6:00pm 2 slices wheat bread with low fat ham, no mayo or marg. 1 cup hot blueberry tea, no caffine.

Well, I almost always eat skimpy, and I do feel well, if I may say so, although I did not walk this morning, I washed and hung out laundry 2, loads, bathe 'Chowder' washed down the front verandah, I know that counts for activity.

Sunday May 2nd, Walked 5:50 to 6:30 am home to Brodie's lot, I think a mile both ways. Crazy winds were blowing and the sun had already come up.
Read my bible verse, ate 1 banana, 1 cup oatmeal with 1 TBSP. Bwn Sugar and rasins, and cinnamon. 1 cup tea with 1 teasp. cond milk.
Now the sunday dinner, I will make no excuses for, 1:15pm, R and B with 1/2 cup salad, sliced tomato and cucumbers, chicken breast, and water, but a little later temtation hit, encouraged my Imani, I actually drank 6oz Coke, yes, me miss, won't touch that poison...
and later I'll have a bit more R and B, and sliced chicken breast, that is my Sunday routine, not greedy just enjoys a little Sunday evening dinner with water or blueberry tea.

My siblings came over, A and B and I and I they left early the boys had a play date, and it's so hot and sticky, that even 'Chowder came in the house to cool down! The temp is probably 95 in the shade, so you can imagine, and the wind is blowing, but hot air...Well this was my weekend how was yours ps. Spoke to Lyn, she was out biking, and miss K came to visit me yesterday evening, show-off, just so I could see her Halle Berry do, Rob no like that.. no way... Love to you all, stay healthy and be spiritual...don't be gluttonous...

Uhoh...did I hear funnel cake???

So, confession!!! I went to Lyn's church fair this morning and we indulged a little. First we had a hot dog...one each which I dont think was bad in terms of caloric value....and no mayo on it either. THEN....we had to eat funnel cake. Mein...it would be pointless to go to a fair and not eat a funnel cake. Well, the good thing about it is that we shared one so we also shared the calories and that didnt make me feel that bad...LOL!! Now after being guilty Im sitting down 4 hrs later at home munching on broccoli...LOL!!! I think I've consumed all my calories allowed this morning so for the remainder of the day I shall munch on veggies with high water content....LOLOLOL!!! LAAD...the things we have to go through. Well ladies, I will also be spending the rest of my Saturday with my "boo" watching a movie and chit chatting. So..Im signing off. Ciao beautiful Morrison women....Love P

On yours marks, get set, Goooooo!

Yes, today is May 1st...it's the start of our May Challenge...I biked 25 miles this morning at 15 mph..it took me about 2 hours in the wind? Arghhh..pure torture!
Then I came home and put it back...
1 everything bagel (240 cals)
2 egg omelet(chicken, jalapeno, salsa casera, parmesan cheese)(342 cals..yikes)
12 oz fresh squeezed orange juice (200)
Total caloric intake -782 kcals-
Now this may seem like a lot of food but I had this breakfast after my ride at about 10 am. I'll have fresh fruits for the rest of the day, then supper at about 6 pm. This is not a typical day for me but this is the way it unfolded!
I have 7.5 lbs of fat to lose hopefully this month and plan to do so on my bike and teaching aerobics during the week. I'll blog later on my start weight today!
Oh btw..check out calorieking an online calorie counter if you want to get an idea of what you are putting in your mouth. This is Special K signing off..Good luck to all you Gorgeous Morrison Women .....

Let the blogging begin!

Finally I think I got it. Well well well...I plan to stay up to speed with my weight/health challenge.

Not sure if anyone knows, but P and I committed to running a race each month since the gate river run in march. We recently did a 5k in April and enjoyed it. We plan to do another on May 22. We are trying to stay fit for the 13.1 race in November. We plan to start our heavy training in September.

Check out the photos from our past three races.

I have already started the eating part. The exercise part is not hard at all...it's lowering my carbs that's a killer. Oh well, we'll see how it goes. Will write more later.

Love Lyn.

Healthy

I am getting crazy waiting for this surgery to pass but I must allow myselft sufficient time to heal. The great thing will be that as soon as I am home from the hospital I can start walking and that will be doctor's orders. I am currently trying to eat my one bosc pear a day to keep myself regular and I am going to start tonight to go to bed at 10pm. I will be taking off a few days the week before my surgery in order to get my body the rest that it needs. Look out girls for as soon as I am healthy I will be doing my thing. D

Excited!!!

So I must say Im quite excited to embark on this "Morrison Women Challenge". Its always a great idea to have a buddy system going. I have started new and fresh this week, kicking the late night snacking habits and trying to eat on time. Things that I have made a point on working on is getting enough sleep everynight and making it a point to exercise 6 days out of the week. I have been slacking lately on the exercise department and I need to get back on track. I've been feeling lethargic this week so I've had to pull energy from within to motivate myself to go running. I know it aint gonna be easy but its doable. Thats all for today ladies....Good luck to you all!!! Love P

There is a first time for everything...

Last week Saturday my sis Karen challenged all of us Morrison women to keep fit. This is what she wrote ...

Hey y'all I'm in the Jewel...having coconut rum with coconut water on my back veranda (patio)...glad I got to spend time with Lyn, Mike, kids and Paola...she used to call me all day and was bex when ah no wahn talk to she....
Inspiration.....
Girls .....check the stats...@ 48 years old (yeah I know)..thanks for saying 'madas..she look good' wellI stand 5' 2" and weigh 139 lbs with 29.1 % or 40.5 lbs being fat...now that's the part that is not good....my goal is to lose 7.5 lbs of that fat...see I need remaining the 33 lbs of fat for my cheeks, batty, titi etc...in other words to keep looking good!
So my challenge is to lose 7.5 lbs of fat for the month of May...that's 2010! Also to slow down on the happy hours (lika-alcohol consumption)
Ineed your support, challenges, doubts..Lyn knows that I cannot allow her to be smaller than me (yes Dylana...she had that smug look on her face when we weighed at publix) I weighed 141 lbs and she weighed 134!I think that long trip yesterday helped me to lose 2 lbs or maybe it was feces (i did eat a lot at Lyn's ..lol)
Do any of you have any health improvement challenges? No matter how small...
D I know you are due for surgery soon but you can still eat well before and after....minor challenge for you!
Gil..you know your muscle strength is limited..soooo...do something bout it...
Imani..hmmm....chase those achy joints away..
P....just keep in shape and drop a little weight..Sitou no like maga gial.....so noh ova do it
Lyn...strength train more
Momma Elvs...keep on trekking anddo some repetitive weight training
you get my drift..I'm only suggesting....you can come with your own wellness challenge list and do not make it too long
Let's take pics of ourselves to start with and document our challenge
anyway it's on... lets do it..

Who will volunteer to put it all together (the documentary..that is) I nominate Dylana....
We do not have to live in the same place to make it work..we just have to do it!
Who knows we can end up on Ellen, The View, or 20/20...LOL....
We can each put our thoughts/day to day challengesdown...I just want us to all be healthy..we are the mighty, strong Morrison women
Now any ideas guys???? K
